Job Description - Assistant Hotel Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Financial Controller in ensuring that the Accounting Department operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Ensuring that the bookkeeping is done accurately.
  • Assist with preparing the monthly Financial Package.
  • Handling & monitoring the General Ledger Accounts.
  • Daily auditing of all records pertaining to revenue of the hotel.
  • Prepares daily income and statistics reports.
  • Prepares relevant documents for incorporation in the monthly accounts.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the hotel's management.

This challenging full time hands-on position is for you if you:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or related major.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide training to all department staff to motivate staff and to ensure the efficient operation, proper maintenance, and repair of equipment.

Equipment and Building Maintenance

  • Plans, designs and implements minor projects, improve efficiency or reduce other operating and maintenance costs:
  • Identifies the needs.
  • Designs and specifications.
  • Estimates costs.
  • Calls for quotations and liaises with outside contractors, where work is not done “in-house”.
  • Supervises project implementations.
  • Coordinates with/informs other departments regarding inconvenience, noise, and duration due to on-going projects.


Preventive Maintenance

  • Plans and implements preventive maintenance system including repairs and renewal of licenses to achieve zero defects for all equipment in the hotel:

-   Air-conditioning and electrical systems -   Building, including furniture and fixtures maintenance -   Elevators -   Boiler and Steam -   Plumbing and Drainage
 Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, can speak and understand other foreign languages is an advantage
  • Minimum of  5 years of work experience in the Engineering Department as an Engineering Manager in the Hospitality/Hotel Industry
  • Full knowledge of all Engineering aspects of Hotel PM, Assessment, and coordination with Building Administration

  • Carries out inspection of guest rooms after Preventive Maintenance. Reviews any problems with the Preventive Maintenance team and recheck room/suite before releasing to Housekeeping/Front Office.
  • Assists in developing, implement and manage emergency programs for the operation and maintenance of all equipment and physical structures in compliance with corporate standards, local, state and national codes and regulations to protect the asset, guests and associates, to ensure optimum operations, minimize expenses and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the short and long term planning and day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department.
  • Reports to Chief Engineer, on a regular basis, regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structures, guest areas, service areas, related systems and equipment offering prudent and cost effective proposals for maintaining the same. Reviews reports, and initiates appropriate actions to carry out maintenance work effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensures maintenance of swimming pool, water features and spa are done according to manufacturer specifications; PPHG standards and local Health Department Regulations.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management, or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • Minimum of five (5) years with advanced knowledge of building management/engineering experience in international five star hotels.
  • Hands on experience on troubleshootHVAC operations, repair and maintenance; electrical controls and equipment maintenance, mechanical applications and building management system etc.

As Director, Engineering, you will be instrumental in orchestrating the handover and set up, from construction opening phase to the day to day operations of the hotel.

Provide leadership and direction for the operations of the Engineering, Landscaping & Security Teams with a focus on service and operational logistics.

  • Ensure strict compliance in accordance to Fairmont standards and brand deliverables for the successful handover from construction to operations.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Technical knowledge of electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing and all areas of engineering.

Job Description

Responsible for the management and maintenance of the external and internal facilities including electrical and mechanical equipment, plumbing, carpentry, and office and room fixtures ensuring that the facilities, equipment, and fixtures are in good running condition.  The scope of the job is not limited to the management and maintenance of the property but includes crisis management, preventive maintenance, energy conservation activities, and other innovative approaches that would result to profits and savings.
